Sample Collection Instructions


Disturbed Soil or Backfill Samples

1.     Seal 2-3 liters of sample in doubled waterproof bags or containers to prevent evaporation.

2.     Provide the dry density* (dry unit weight) that sample should be remolded to before testing.

*The is often the Maximum Dry Density (MDD) from a Proctor test X percent compaction specified for construction.

3.     Alternatively, disturbed or backfill samples can be remolded to the desired target density in rigid containers, capped, and shipped for testing (preferred).

4.     Clearly label sample with relevant information that should be reflected in the report (job number or title, backfill origin, depth, date, etc.).

SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Email sales@basaltridgetesting.com with the following information:

    • Number of Samples

    • Nature of sample (concrete, soil, fluid, etc.)

    • Expedite request (optional)

    • Any other relevant information

  2. Include Sample Information Sheets, Signed Thermal Service Request Form, and any desired Chain of Custody documentation with samples.

  3. Ship all samples in sturdy container to:
