Concrete, Grout, and FTB Sample Collection Instructions
CONTACT BASALT RIDGE FOR PILOT PINS BEFORE POURING SAMPLES! We will promptly send you pilot pins.
Prepare 3 samples from each mix and insert 1 pilot pin into the center of each.
Samples must be at least 2” in diameter and 5” long.
Pilot pins should be coated with petroleum grease and inserted into the uncured sample shortly after pouring. Please insert the full length of the pilot pin, but do not bury the head.
Pilot pins can be inserted through a thin sheet of plastic wrap or the mold lid to prevent the pin from sinking into the uncured mix.
Please cap and tape the sample molds to prevent evaporation.
Samples can be shipped after 24 - 36 hours of curing period.
Clearly label sample with relevant information that should be reflected in the report (job number or title, mix number or description, date of pour, etc.)
Samples should be securely wrapped to prevent damage during shipping.
Include completed Sample Information Sheets, Signed Thermal Service Request Form, and any desired Chain of Custody documentation with samples
Ship all samples in a sturdy box, bucket, or container to:
